After a stellar inaugural year, we are back again over Memorial Day weekend 2022 for the second annual Mad Gravel Weekend. This year we’re bringing to you a circuit race on Saturday along with a morning 5K trail run, the full Mad Gravel on Sunday and the MGXC mountain bike race on Monday. As usual, we expect it to be one of the most challenging gravel events on the calendar. The circuit race will be a mixture of gravel road, double track and a small section of single track. The three course options on Sunday are sure to bring you epic roads, punchy climbs, quick descents, wide open spaces, and will take you back to remote and beautiful country in and around Elbert County. The mountain bike race on Monday will be a fast lap course surrounding the entire area. Based out of the Peaceful Valley Boy Scout Ranch south of Kiowa, Colorado, riders will be tested, but get to enjoy the amazing views and high peaks of the Colorado front range. That alone is worth the price of admission! Bring the family, participate in a variety of events, camp, relax and enjoy.

Mad Gravel is now a full-on weekend gravel event. Saturday will be fast and furious circuit race within the boundaries of the Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch. You runners also get to enjoy most of the same course before the cyclists take off. Look for some great winding gravel roads, double track and a mix of twisty single-track sections. It will be unique. Sunday is the biggie. Racers and riders have the option to pick one of 3 epic routes along the eastern Colorado slope. Monday treats you to a sweet mountain bike course highlighting the great trails within the ranch. With amazing views of Colorado’s high 14’ers, you’ll get the best vantage point of the entire front range.  All 3 days of Mad Gravel are fully supported with multiple aid stations. As one of the first gravel events on the Colorado calendar, you will be glad you participated in this fully supported and ultra-scenic event. When the riding is over, the party begins where food, drink, music and post-race festivities await you back at the expansive hall overlooking the venue. Not to miss!

At a solid 78 miles, MG Marathon is the “just right” option for Mad Gravel. Plenty of mileage while still enjoying an epic tour of the eastern plains. Prepare yourself for some awe inspiring moments while you take in a great panorama of Colorado’s high peaks. Pikes Peak alone is stunning that time of year with its snow capped peak. Be treated to 3 aid stations on course so you can pack light.

Mad Gravel Circuit

We just had to do it. There are too many great options at Peaceful Valley to not at least try putting together a fun gravel circuit race. Each lap is roughly 7 miles and will explore the entire scout ranch. Will there be gravel? Yes. Will there be double-track road? Yes. Will there be single-track? Uh…yes, but it will be smooth! You gotta try this one!

What good is a weekend on the dirt without a mountain bike race? In the continuing effort to make Mad Gravel a full weekend event, we decided to bring in MGXC, a great mountain bike course entangled within the Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch. This course will have a bit of everything that you’d expect in MTB. Trust us.

Mad Gravel Run

For you runners out there, what a great way to start the weekend by getting a great 5K trail run in. This course will be close to what the MG Circuit racers will be doing just a couple of hours later. A nice mix of roads with some single track will keep things and interesting. This is also a great option for those mixed discipline families.
